My heart goes out to all Mark's loved ones. Growing up at St. Peter's church, I always admired Mark and his Mom every Sunday at mass. The vision of the two of them will stay with me always. Rest in peace Mark.

My prayers go with you.
I remember I spent a summer caring for Mark.. His favorite song was "splash splash,I was taking a bath"
Your father's drawing courses were out and I found out I couldn't not draw.

Posted tonight on the Monticello Facebook Sometimes you find something online that really takes you back. I don't know if others will remember Mark Cahalan. http://kennyfuneralhome.com/tribute/details/837/Mark-Cahalan/obituary.html#tribute-start. Years ago, Mark was at the Rutherford school when we were in the lower grades. That was not an enlightened era, by any means, and the special Ed. kids were referred to by a very derogatory term, re_____. I am ashamed to admit I may have done this myself. I remember looking at Mark and seeing a peace in his face, and as a kid had no idea what Down's was. The line in the obit about him liking to ride his bike on Clinton Ave was an understatement. He was ALWAYS doing it, and when I began to drive I saw him and waved. I got a wave back. And he always had the smile.
Seeing Mark and knowing how long he lived makes ME smile. His memory takes me back to a very different time. Chocolate pudding with the skin, nap times, and the best teachers you could ever ask for.
The amazing part of this is to look at Mark's picture. He was still smiling! RIP.

I did not know that Mark died until today, I am so very sorry to hear. He was a good person, a special friend during my childhood years as a parishioner at St Peters. I will remember and pray for him always
