The VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, located at both 401 Broadway in Monticello, NY and 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro, NY, is a full-service funeral home specializing in burial, cremation, entombment and out of town transfers when death occurs. Whether the funeral is traditional, private or direct disposition – and whether the service is religious, fraternal, military, humanist or memorial – we assist our families in taking care of the many details that must be handled after a loved-one has passed away.

His father, Willis, and grandfather, David, had both been cabinetmakers in Bloomingburg in the 1800’s, building caskets as part of their craft. This carried them into the funeral profession. Benson’s brother, Birdsall (Bert), moved to Wurtsboro to establish a funeral home, and Ben moved to Monticello in 1926 to sell sewing machines for Fred Stratton, who, besides his funeral practice, owned and operated a Singer sewing machine business and sold pianos. After a while, Ben became partners with Stratton and eventually bought the entire business. In 1968, Ben sold his firm to E. Arthur Gray, a funeral director from Port Jervis, and James F. Kenny, who had recently graduated from the American Academy-McAllister Institute of Funeral Service in New York City. In 1972, Bert VanInwegen’s funeral home in Wurtsboro was added to the growing company.
