Obituary of William Vincent Latimer

William Vincent Latimer, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and a retired Police Officer for the NYPD, died Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at his home in Yankee Lake. He was 78. The son of the late Charles A. Latimer and Christina O'Sullivan Latimer, he was born November 17, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY. He was the widower of Dorothy Ann Latimer who predeceased him on September 17, 2002. A devoted family man, Vinny was also an accomplished musician who sang and played the banjo, guitar, dobro, fiddle, steel guitar, accordion, and many other instruments. His artistic talents are known by many through his wood carvings and paintings. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He is survived by his eight children; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three brothers; one sister; and several nieces and nephews. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 180 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with Fr. Peter Madori officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 121 Executive Drive, New Windsor, NY 12553, or to the charity of one's choice.
