Obituary of Frank L. Carella
Frank entered into eternal rest with his Lord & Savior in the presence of his family on January 28, 2022. He was born on January 20, 1947 in Detroit Michigan to Frank and Helen (Herbert) Carella.
He was a Vietnam veteran, honored in the Purple Heart Hall of Fame in New Windsor and Memorial Park in Wallkill. After discharge from the Army, Frank was employed by Orange and Rockland Utilities for 42 years, retiring as an underground lineman. Frank’s first love was his God, to whom he served selflessly as a humble evangelist, treasurer and trustee for several congregations – contributing to all aspects of fulfilling and sharing God’s word.
He loved Carol with his whole being and was the father and grandfather that every child wishes for. Carol and Frank loved to travel. Scotland, Italy, Greece and South Africa were only a few of their places traveled, with annual visits to Kennebunkport, ME. They built two beautiful homes together and enjoyed working in their garden.
Dad enjoyed attending their sports events, road trips, camping, hunting, fishing – and everything they wanted to do. Pop is best remembered for his loving hugs, as well as the ziplines, playground, and the pool he kept ready for whenever his grandchildren visited.
Frank is survived by his “bride” Carol M Carella; his children Ross MacNeil (Michelle), Nichol Chiarella (Peter Berlant), and Christopher Carella (Meghan); his grandchildren Connor, Mallorie, Cameron, Bailey, Callan, and Kai; his brothers Ronald, Thomas (Pura), and Nathan (Carlyn) Carella; sisters Donna (Jack) Seaborn, and Honey Britt; a sister-in-law June Hay (Ian); and many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Michael Carella.
The family would like to thank the Mamakating First Aid Squad, WMC Air Medivac, and the neuro-trauma department for their thorough and gentle handling of their beloved husband and father.
Visitation will be held at the Cornerstone Baptist Church at 65 Schutt Rd, Middletown, NY on Thursday Feb 3 from 7-9pm. His Celebration of Life will be held on Friday Feb 4 at 10:30am, also at Cornerstone Baptist Church. Interment will be for his immediate family and fellow veterans at the Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen.
