What is a Father?
A Father is a good provider. Not only does he bring home food, he also provides emotional security; he pours oil on troubled waters. A father is a good disciplinarian. The father who loves his children will chasten them when necessary. A Father isa good adviser. The lessons he has learned in life he shares with his children. They will look to him for guidance as long as he lives. A Father is a good confessor. A child needs someone in whom he can confide. They need someone to whom they can pour out their heart and who will listen to troubles and resentments. A father is a good protector. He is guardian of the family's morals and of their spiritual and physical health. A father is a good example. He knows children will remember what he does much longer than what he says. A father is a good leader: one who motivates and directs by wise counsel and loving concern. He spends enough time with his family for them to be well acquainted with him, and he with them. He takes the lead in spiritual as well as other matters. His loved ones depend on him and are not dissapointed. He draws strength from God and shares it with his family. Because the Lord is his helper, he can say to his children, "Follow me as I follow Christ."
