Hildur was my heart’s friend! Years separated us, but nothing more. Many were the times we would sit outside on her son and daughter-in-law, Barton and Trudy’s, patio to have a cigarette and a chat. She lived a full and interesting life. Her twinkling eyes revealed a spirit of spontaneity and fun. There was a hint of mischief there . . . like she was up to something and I found it so endearing! I wanted to know where she had been, what path she had taken . . . how she had achieved her goals and success in life. What I gleaned in those patio sessions were her satisfaction in a life well lived, joy and contentment in her journey, love and pride in her wonderful children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. I was blessed when our paths crossed. God speed, Hildur!
