Edward Joseph McManus, a lifelong resident of the area, died Wednesday, June 20,2018 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 82. The son of the late Harry McManus and Lena Schroeder McManus, he was born July 12, 1935 in Monticello. Ed is survived by his wife Sheila Carradine McManus, at home; his children Lou Ann Rexford and her companion John Cummings of Hurleyville, Doreen White of Missouri, Tommy McManus of Missouri, Susanne McManus of Monticello, Craig McManus and his wife Amy of North Carolina, Dean McManus and his wife Jessica of Kerhonkson, and Kim Albanese of Florida; 11 grandchildren: Heather, Sean, Casey, Hailey, Katterhina, Anthony, Joseph, Julia, Lukas, Warren and Landon; one great-grandchild: Hayden; and several nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his brothers Harry McManus and George McManus. Ed was a retired police chief with the Monticello Police department. He was also a locksmith for many years, worked for Garlick funeral home, a milkman and many other odd jobs. A special thanks to Lou Ann and John for taking extra care of Dad and going above and beyond for the last few years. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
