Charles Joseph De Paola Jr., a retired highway worker for the Town of Mamakating, died Sunday, January 15, 2017 at his home in Westbrookville. He was 80. The son of the late Charles J. De Paola Sr. and Lucille Scelsi De Paola, he was born February 6, 1936 in Union City, NJ. He was the widower of Shirley Diana Conklin DePaola. Charles was a very proud veteran of the United States Marines serving in the Korean War. A wonderful father, he was a kind and gentle soul who had a story to tell to whoever would listen. He is survived by his daughter: Wendy Goellner & her husband Tom of Westbrookville; a grandson: Timothy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by a sister: Emily Atkins. He was extremely proud of his Italian heritage and the family history connected to it. There will be no services. Memorial contributions can be made to the Westbrookville Volunteer Fire Co., P.O. Box 263, Westbrookville, NY 12785. Arrangements under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc.
