Edward Melvin Lilley of Ferndale, a retired owner/driver/trainer at the Monticello Raceway for many years, died Saturday, January 14, 2017 at his daughter's home in Tafton, PA. He was 91. The son of the late Willard Lilley and Frances Pierce Lilley, he was born April 15, 1925 in Bethel, NY. He was the widower of Marilyn Lilley who predeceased him in 1981. Ed's love of music brought family members and many friends together. His favorite hobbies were repairing and maintaining old vintage tractors and collecting tools and tinkering in his shop. He will forever be missed. He is survived by his children: Patricia Sherlock & her husband William of Bayville, NJ, Janet Bell & her husband James of Tafton, PA, Nancy Wampler & her husband David of Ortonville, MI, Kimiko Smith & her husband Barry of Deland, FL and Jan Repko & his wife Mindy of Melbourne, FL; six grandchildren: Jamie, Mandy, Jennifer, Jill, Tiffany & Tyler and seven great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a son: Edward; and a brother Arthur. Graveside services and interment of his ashes will be held on Wednesday, January 18 at 11am at the Evergreen Cemetery, Route 17B in Bethel. Memorial contributions can be made to Smallwood Fire Company and Bethel ambulance. Arrangements under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello.
