Glenn "Mickey" Glaab of Monticello died Monday, January 9, 2017 at his home. He was 80. He was born on May 30, 1936 in Narrowsburg, NY, son of the late Arnold Glaab and Blanche Slater Glaab. He was the widower of Marjorie Glaab who predeceased him on November 5, 1997. Mickey was a 1954 graduate of Narrowsburg High School. Upon graduation, Mickey served in the United States Air Force. After leaving the Air Force, he worked for NYSEG, retiring as a chief lineman. Mickey was known for his ability to make people laugh. During Christmas time, he always had tootsie roll lollipops in his pockets to give to kids and women that came to his house to cut down a Christmas tree. Before he had problems with his knees, Mickey was an avid runner who completed the New York City Marathon in 3 hours and 29 minutes at the age of 45. He is survived by his companion: Helen Fraser of Monticello; two sons: James Glaab & his wife Catherine of Elmsford, NY and Brian Glaab of Albany, NY; two granddaughters: Savannah and Casey of Elmsford; and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a sister: Barbara Glaab Buddenhagen. Family & friends are invited to gather on Friday, January 13 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the VanInwegen Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 14 at 10am at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at the St. Peter's Cemetery in Monticello.
