Obituary of Robert W. Andersen

Robert W. Andersen, 63, of Wurtsboro died December 13, 2016 at home. Son of Robert and Marian Andersen, he was born June 12, 1953 in Brooklyn, NY. Bob was the devoted husband of Patricia and loving father to Victoria and Madeline. Bob A, as he was known in the family, had many interests that he shared freely with anyone who had the good fortune to know him. He was a talented manufacturing mechanic and electrician who prided himself on old fashioned work ethic and providing for his family. Rooted deeply in Wurtsboro, Bob felt it was important to give back to the community. He connected his love of reading, with the Mamakating Library, serving for several years as the Vice President of the board. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to family, friends and neighbors. Nothing however came close to his devotion to his family. Bob even joined the Girl Scouts when all three of his girls became involved as scouts and scout leader. When not working, Bob, wearing his ever present hat and sporting his salt and pepper beard would easily be found close to them, reading a book or spending time outdoors hiking or kayaking. He especially loved camping in Montauk each fall with his entire extended family where he was transformed into "The Fire Master" building fires that were the envy of all others at Hither Hills Campground. Bob's good nature and kind spirit will be missed. He is survived by his wife and daughters; his sister Carol Bundrick (Larry); brothers in law, James Hardy (Lorraine), Kevin Hardy (Elizabeth); sister in law MegAnn Baisley (Robert); and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at the Community Church of Wurtsboro, 134 Sullivan Street, on Monday, December 19 from 4 to 6 PM. Service will follow at 6 o'clock. There will be continued visitation in the Fellowship Hall following the service.
