Obituary of Larry Griggs

Lawrence L. "Larry" Griggs Jr. of Swan Lake, a retired master mechanic and machinist for Sutphen East Corp in White Lake died on Monday, November 14, 2016 at the Ganley residence in Kiamesha Lake. He was 81. The son of the late Lawrence L. Griggs Sr. and Mae Lee, he was born October 31, 1935 in Goshen. He was the widower of Clare Griggs. Larry was a veteran of the United States Army. He was also an avid motorcycle rider and outdoorsman. He was a long standing member of the Sullivan County Conservation Club. He is survived by his companion Linda Ganley of Kiamesha Lake; a daughter: Linda Griggs of Middletown; a sister: Shirley Eschrich of Pearl River; stepson: Reeves Gabriel; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, November 18, 2016 from 4-7pm at the VanInwegen Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. A funeral service will be held at 6:30pm by Deacon Tom. Interment of his ashes with military honors will be held on Saturday at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the Hospice Team West who provided excellent care during the last year of Larry's illness.
