Meris Cummings, 76, was granted her angel wings on October 8, 2016 at the Richmond Hill Adult Care Facility after battling a long illness. She was born January 5, 1940 to the late Louvenia Richardson and Zack Cummings in Milledgeville, Georgia. Meris was a graduate of Monticello High School. She worked at Community General Hospital in Harris for about 20 plus years, then moved to Daphne, Alabama where she worked for Thomas Hospital for many years until she retired. She was predeceased by her mother Louvenia; two sisters: Doris Jones and Bethene Cummings; grandson Gregory Cummings; and a great grandson Steven Davis. Meris leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, a son and son-in-law: Crystal Davis of Albany, NY, Lisa Cummings of Richmond, VA, Bobby Holmes of Richmond, VA and Sean Cummings of Monticello; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, & cousins. Family & friends are invited to gather on Saturday, November 5 from 12-1pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral, 401 Broadway in Monticello with a memorial service starting at 1pm. Interment of her ashes will follow at the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello. Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello.
