Obituary of General Washington

General Washington Jr. aka "Bubba", a retired harness racer and staple of the Monticello community passed away and joined the Lord on Friday, September 30th, 2016 at Catskill Regional Medical Center at the age of 77. General Washington Jr. is the son of the late Bessie and General Washington and was born on February 12th, 1939 in Timmonsville, South Carolina. Born to humble beginnings, Bubba migrated north where he mastered his craft and love of horses and was noted as one of the top African American Harness race drivers. General is survived by children: Brian Washington, Deana Coy (Dwight), Cedric Washington, John Washington, (Sandra), Dennis Washington, Debra Pinkney (Patrick), Chad Washington, Russell McNeil, Melinda Poole, and twenty-four grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters; Jessie Abron, Kathleen Barrett (Bobby), Theta Huggins (Vincent), and two brothers; Moses Washington (Denise), James Washington (Belinda) as well as a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, October 7th, 2016 at the First Baptist Church located at 29 Liberty Street in Monticello. The viewing is from 10-11:00am with the Funeral mass beginning at 11:00am. Burial will follow. Repast at Ted Stroebele Recreation Center- 10 Jefferson Street, Monticello, NY.
