Obituary of George J. Wood

George Joseph Wood of White Lake passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 76. The son of the late Roy Wood and Mabel Peck Wood, he was born April 13, 1940 in Monticello. A veteran of the United States Army, Woody was also a member of Laborers International Union Local No. 17, Catskill Region Antique Automobile Club of America, Classic Chevy Club, National Street Rod Association, Good Guys Rod & Custom Association, The Antique Motorcycle Club of America, and the National Rifle Association. A devoted car enthusiast, Woody loved traveling to car shows both near and far, making many friends along the way. He enjoyed nothing more than sitting on his front porch and visiting with the many friends that stopped by to chat. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Woody leaves behind his beloved wife of 51 years, Jenelle Campion Wood; his son George Jay Wood and his wife Lisa (Mason) Wood, of Kauneonga Lake, their children, Rebecca Grace Wood, Alec Joseph Wood and Lisa's son, Kevin Chad Terrell; his daughter Tracey Ann (Wood) Drew and her husband Kenneth Drew of Delmar, NY, and their children, Mollie Rose Drew and Rachel Marie Drew. He also leaves behind many cousins and loyal friends. Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, August 14 from 3-6 PM at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway, Monticello. The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Bethel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Community United Methodist Church of Kauneonga Lake, P.O. Box 891, Kauneonga Lake, NY 12749.
