Javier "Bistek" Rivera of Monticello died Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Nyack Hospital after injuries sustained from a road accident in the Town of Thompson last month. He was 69.
The son of the late Eligio Rivera and Eusebia Molina, he was born September 20, 1946 in Juncos, Puerto Rico.
He was an avid runner and a beloved member of his community.
Survivors include his wife: Sandra Ramos Rivera, at home; children: Javier Jr., Waleska, Maylin, Erika, Lynka, Eliezer, Yalitza, and Emmanuel Rivera; and 11 grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, July 28 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. A private family funeral service will be held on Friday, July 29 with Luis Boria officiating. Burial will follow at Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.
