Carl H. "Butch" Buckstad of Forestburgh, a retired owner/operator of Norsk Metals in Monticello, died Sunday, July 10, 2016 at the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. He was 70. The son of the late Simon Buckstad and Alice Jensen Buckstad, he was born March 21, 1946 in Brooklyn. Butch was a past member of the Forestburgh Fire Co. where he enjoyed participating in the annual Christmas run & events. He was a past member of the Elks, served on the board of DVAA, and was an active member and trustee of the Bailey Richman VFW Post #9588. He was a talented and generous metal sculptor with works on many buildings and in many homes and offices. He & his daughter Tara put Mickey back on Broadway. A proud veteran who served in Viet Nam, Butch also loved cooking for friends & family. He is survived by his wife: Marie Benson Buckstad, at home; two daughters: Tara & her husband Joe Russo of Wurtsboro, grandchildren Kirsten & Hunter; and Tina & her husband Mike Foster of Grahamsville, grandchildren Kayla (James), Michael, Jimmy and Heather; a sister: Jean Brucher of Bethel; a brother: Stanley of Sacramento, CA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter: Tristin; brothers Kenneth & Victor, and sister Clara. Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, July 20 from 4:00 - 6:30pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday evening at 6:30pm at the funeral home. Interment of his ashes with military honors will be held at a later date at the St. John Street Cemetery in Monticello. Memorial contributions can be made to the Bailey Richman VFW Post #9588, P.O.
