Obituary of Sandra A. Bernstein

Sandra A. Bernstein, a retired art teacher at Tri-Valley Central School and longtime resident of Grahamsville, passed away peacefully, at her home on April 14, 2013. She was 55.
Daughter of Christopher Houghton and Barbara (Whitlow) Houghton, she was born September 19, 1957 in Syracuse, NY.
Sandra worked at Tri-Valley for 30 years and was beloved by all her past students and faculty. She was a member of New York State Art Teachers Association and in 2006 received the Region 7 Outstanding Art Educator Award. She was also a yearly presenter at the NYSATA Conference.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Lenny Bernstein; two sons: John & Jimmy Bernstein, all of Grahamsville; her mother, Barbara Houghton of New Jersey; a sister: Nancy Houghton also of New Jersey; three nieces and a nephew; and many friends. She was predeceased by her father Christopher Southworth Houghton.
Friends and family may call on Friday, April 26, 2013 from 5-8pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 27 at 10:00am at St. John's Episcopal Church, St. John's Street in Monticello.
