Obituary of Ronald Robert Martinek

Ronald Robert Martinek (Ron) of Monticello, New York passed away peacefully Sunday, September 9, 2012 at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. Ron was born October 27, 1957 in Monticello to Ella (Albrecht) Martinek and the late George Martinek. Ron graduated Monticello High School Class of 1976. He was a member of Monticello Elks 1544, Cliff Lodge Hunting Club and the National Rifle Association (NRA). He worked for 33 years at a local oil company, starting as an oil burner technician and ending his career as General Manager. An avid self-proclaimed mechanic, Ron felt most at home in his garage helping friends and family fixing anything from a lawn mower to a truck. He was a true "jack of all trades". A lifelong outdoorsman, he loved fishing, hunting and four-wheeling. Friends will always remember him as a die-hard NASCAR fan, with an unyielding loyalty to car #29 (Harvick). Ron is survived by his mother Ella; his loving children: Albert & his wife Mary, Amber, T.J., George, and Rebecca; his grandchildren: Gavin, Bailey, Audrey, Logan, and Ada; brothers Carl and George; a sister Donna Mulvey & her husband Mickey; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends, as well as his faithful four-legged companion, Tito. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 12 at 2:00pm at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Broadway and Liberty Street in Monticello.
