Edward James Stiene, of Monticello, died Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. He was 72. The son of the late Henry Stiene and Mary (Dexheimer) Stiene, he was born September 25, 1943 in Callicoon. He then grew up with his brothers, Joe & Hank in Narrowsburg. After graduating from high school, Ed he enjoyed a successful career as an installation and repair tech/foreman for Bell Atlantic (Verizon), where he retired in 1999. On June 28th, 1969, he married Gail Goodwin, with whom he had two daughters, Darcy & Dana. Ed was a charter member of the Monticello Volunteer Ambulance Corps., a member of the Monticello Fire Dpt., the White Oak Hunting Camp in Sackett Lake, and CWA Local Union. Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching sports, including NASCAR, Jets & Giants Football, Mets & Yankees Baseball, and most of all, spending time with his family and loved ones. He is survived by his wife Gail (Goodwin) Stiene, at home; two daughters: Darcy Duggan (Dan) of Middletown, and Dana Stone (Scott) of Buffalo; his grandchildren: Gailen Duggan, Daphne Stone, Fiona Stone, and Erik Duggan (Priscilla Mercado); great grandchildren: Madison Dobbs, Alexandria Mercado, and Eva Duggan; a brother: Henry "Hank" Stiene (Maureen) of Huntersville. NC; sisters-in-law: Evelyn Stiene; and Jennifer Goodwin; and nieces and nephews: Autumn Beeman (Mark); Joseph Stiene (Kimberli); Melissa Baker (Bill); Matthew Stiene (Tammy); Megan Signor (Joel); and Aimee Rosenblatt (Darren). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Joseph. Family & friends are invited to gather on Friday, June 3 from 6-8pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 4 at 11:00am at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Broadway and Liberty Street in Monticello. Interment of his ashes will be held privately.
