Woodrow McKoy of Monticello, a former housekeeper at Community General Hospital in Harris, died Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at the Sullivan Co. Adult Care Center in Liberty. He was 70. The son of the late Sylvester McKoy and Sylvia Morrison, he was born July 31, 1945 in St. Mary Parish, Jamaica, West Indies. Woodrow relocated to the United States from Jamaica W.I. in 1980, where he found employment at the Community General hosp. And he was often commended for keeping the hallways pristine and took pride in his work. While working there, he met Jodie Vandemark and they began a beautiful family together. Woodrow will always be remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Woodrow was widely known for his cooking and generosity in the community. He also loved spending time with his family and his many friends, especially Arthur (June bug) Gillard. He enjoyed playing Dominoes, Lottery and Ludi while listening to Bob Marley, Gregory Isaacs and other Roots Rock Reggae acts. We CAN NEVER FORGET his love for his Jamaican culture and heritage. Survivors include: his Children, Woodrow(Andy), Neil, Petra of Jamaica, W.I., Sannette (Natoya) of Miramar Fl, Fabian (Griff) of Monticello, Daniel of Liberty, Megan of Monticello and Marcus McKoy of Woodridge,NY. Grandchildren Stephen, Hugh, Nicholas, Jodi-Anne, Daville, Aryanna, Leajahnae, Lachaya & Delilah. His brother Leon, Sisters Rose, Elaine, Josephine, & Veronica. He is also survived by in-laws Ingrid, Natalie, Cheryl, Devon and Adrienne Scott and their children from his marriage to Lucy. Many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Woodrow was predeceased by his wife Lucy and her daughter Janet Scott. A special thank you to his nieces Michele, Joy and Jackie for their care during his illness. And thank you to Sullivan Co. Adult Care Center for making his last days comfortable. Many thanks to nurses Sue & Roxy for making his family feel at ease with your compassionate care. Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, February 27 from 1-3pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. A funeral service will follow at 3pm at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello.
