Obituary of Edith M. Breakey

"Goodbyes are not are not forever, are not the end, it simply means I'll miss you until we meet again" Edith M. Cross Breakey of Rock Hill, a lifelong resident of the area, passed peacefully on Sunday, February 21, 2016, surrounded by her family at the age of 78. She was born to Harold and Virginia Cross in Hurleyville, NY on May 2, 1937. She will be lovingly remembered for her cards, her special seasonal cookies and cake, her funny sayings, kind heart, her generosity, as a hard worker, and her love of family. She is survived by a family that will dearly miss her and fondly remember her including three sons: Earl Conklin (Clarese), Victor Marinello and John Marinello; her five grandchildren: Edith Fuller (Wayne), Toni Heininger (Jeffrey), Earl Conklin (Jessica), Jonathan Conklin, and Jessica Marinello; three great grandchildren: Derick Koen, Alexander and Matthew Heininger; and several siblings, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of many years, Ralph Breakey, her daughter Vonnie Sue Conklin, parents Harold and Virginia Cross, and several siblings. Edith's greatest accomplishments were being a mother, grandmother, and author. Having written her first children's book in 1982, it was recently published and was something that gave her great joy and a legacy by which to always be remembered. Her family asks that you join them in celebrating Edith's life at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello, on Wednesday February 24th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The funeral service will also be held at the funeral home on Thursday February 25th at 11:00am with interment to follow in Hurleyville Cemetery.
