Obituary of Ronald Kaempfe

Please share a memory of Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ronald Kaempfe of Monticello passed away on Monday February 8th, 2016 at home. "Ronnie" was a 41-year resident of Monticello where he raised a family and converted one of the old horse farm homes to his pride and joy. He was a career plumber in new construction in Rockland County. Ronnie and his late wife, Marilyn, were known to give the shirts off their backs to anyone and always threw great summer-ending parties. Ronnie leaves his sons: Scott Kaempfe & his wife Sarah, and his three granddaughters Sofia, Olivia and Gabriella of Laguna Niguel, California; and Craig Kaempfe & his wife Christine, and grandson Matthew of Chesapeake, Virginia; a sister Carol Kaempfe Masel of Holtsville, New York; and numerous nieces and nephews including local residents Melissa Stickle and William DeFino. He was predeceased by his wife, Marilyn Kaempfe; his sister Inga Kaempfe DeFino, brother Walter Kaempfe, mother Apollonia Kaempfe, and father Walter Kaempfe. Ronnie took pride in his childhood neighborhood of Highbridge in the Bronx where he relished the friendships of some of his most favorite lifelong friends too numerous to name. The stories about dances, bowling leagues, corner candy stores and bachelor parties were always very entertaining. He was always a great dancer looking to break out the dancing shoes at any wedding or August party. Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, February 12 from 4-7pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 13 at 11am at St. Peter's Church, Broadway and Liberty Street in Monticello with Fr. John Tran officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in Liberty. Ronnie fought a brave and courageous battle with lung cancer but ultimately chose to enjoy his final days with his beloved family. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Lung Association and/or the American Cancer Society to help others in their courageous fights. Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello. For additional information or to send an online condolence, please visit www.kennyfuneralhome.com
