Joseph D. Colon Malone of Monticello, died Saturday, December 26, 2015 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 74.
The son of the late John Joseph Colon Malone and Essie Mae DeLoatch, he was born March 13, 1941 in Northampton, North Carolina.
Jose worked as a self-employed landscaper for many years, and enjoyed gambling and fishing. He was known to be a great man of character, dignity and integrity. He was truly one of a kind and will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his loving children: Jamal Colon and Elisha Colon; three grandchildren: Damel, Sanai and Enaiya; one great granddaughter; three sisters: Barbara, Shirley and Rachel; his extended sons: Ronald Smith, Yakub Brown and Tyrone Hagans; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a granddaughter: Nazaria Simmons.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, January 2, 2016 from 12-1pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. His funeral service will begin at 1pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.
