Obituary of Debra Ann Hall

Debra A. Hall, a Detective Corporal with the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office with almost twenty years of dedicated service, died at her home on December 20, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was 57 years old. The daughter of the late Oscar Hall and Doris Fletcher Hall, Debbie was born on May 2, 1958 in Newburgh, New York. She began her career with the Sheriff's Office in 1996 in the Corrections Division, later transfering to the Patrol Division in 1999, where she worked tirelessly as an advocate against animal abuse, investigating and seeing through numerous prosecutions of persons who harmed and mamed helpless animals, for whom Debbie protected. When called to take on a new role within the agency, Debbie answered, serving as a School Resource Officer throughout Sullivan County working with many children teaching D.A.R.E. and assisiting in cases brought on in the school systems. An avid golfer, she was proud of her recent hole in one at her beloved French Woods Country Club. Debbie was a proud NASCAR fan, cheering on Tony Stewart every week, and loved to watch the New York Jets and the New York Yankees. She was a Member and Former Lieutenant of the Woodbourne Fire Department, Member and Former Captain of the Woodbourne Ambulance Corps. Debbie served as past board member of the Sullivan County Patrolman's Benevolent Association and in addition she was the President of the Tyler Hill Golf Club. She is survived by her longtime companion, Peter Scalia; her son Andreas "Andy" Nedwetzty, and his wife Theresa, of Tyler Hill; her two brothers, Warren, and his wife, Debra, of Tyler Hill, and Mark, and his wife, Carolyn, of Wallkill, NY; her sister, Lois Bartholomew and her husband David of Wallkill; and her 3 beloved grandchildren, Darian, Alicia, and Austyn. Debbie's family will receive friends on Sunday, December 27, 2015 from 6-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 28 at 12:00 noon at the Calkins Baptist Church, 527 Calkins Road in Milanville, PA. Burial will follow in the Calkins Cemetery in Milanville. Donations in her name may be made to the S.C.P.B.A., PO Box 526, Rock Hill, NY 12775. Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello.
