Mother Estella Walker, a resident of Monticello, NY for over 62 years was born April 12, 1914 in Bromley, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late Archie and Lula Louvenia Hooks. She entered into her eternal rest on Wednesday, November 25, 2105 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Facility. She was 101 years old. She came to Monticello in 1953 with her late husband and family. During her lifetime she was employed at Cohen's Laundry and at Hamilton Ave Hospital until its closing. Mother Walker was loved by everyone who knew her and was known for her warm and friendly smile. She was unique, one of a kind, a treasure with great words of wisdom to give to both the young and old. She was a "Pillar" of Bethlehem Temple Church and was their oldest member. One will never forget her fashionable and stylish way of dressing. She looked like a million dollars when she stepped out to go to church. Her family contributes her long life to her faith and trust in God. Mother Walker is survived by her children, Pastor Delores Williams, Ruth Bickham, Claudine Maxwell, Liserie Walker, Alinda Tomlinson, Judy Pugh, and one adopted daughter, Beulah Davis, all of Monticello, N.Y., two sisters, Edreana Snowden and Martha Hooks of Bay Minette, Alabama, one sister in law, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Walker, Sr. two sons, Joseph Walker Jr. and Jeffry Walker, and two daughters, Letha Walker and Vera Walker.. Viewing will be Wednesday, Dec. 2 from 7:00-9:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello, and on Thursday, Dec. 3 from 11:00am-12:00 noon at the Bethlehem Temple Church, 93 Fairground Road in Monticello with funeral services starting at 12:00 noon Thursday at the church with Bishop Leon Williams officiating. Burial to follow at Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello. Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello.
