Obituary of Nancy Elizabeth Schoonmaker

Nancy Elizabeth Schoonmaker, 57, of Monticello, New York went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 16, 2015. The daughter of Walter and Elizabeth Trifari, of The Villages, Fl., she was born in the Bronx, New York on September 1, 1958 and grew up in Middletown, New York. She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Richard Schoonmaker; daughter Tracy Israel (Desmond Gonzales) of Woodbourne; three grandchildren, Chase, Angel, and Isabella; siblings, June (Kevin) Hosking of Middletown, John (Chris) Trifari of Glen Spey, Maryellen (Mike) Dineen of Midland MI and Walter (Kelley) Trifari of Bluffton, SC; and many nieces and nephews who were dear to her heart. She was predeceased by her niece Meghan Trifari. Nancy worked for the State of New York at Otisville Correctional Facility for 36 years as a Dental Assistant. She enjoyed many outdoor activities throughout her life including snowmobiling, motorcycling, camping and playing golf. She was an amazing cook that was always insisting that you eat, eat, eat. But most of all, Nancy is remembered by her friends and family as a person that had a huge heart and would do anything for anyone that needed her. She put everyone's needs before her own, even the stranger in line whose prescription she paid for and never told anyone. She had a way of making everyone smile, laugh and feel like they've known her all their life. A memorial service will be held Monday, September 21, 2015 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at the VanInwegen & Kenny Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan St, Wurtsboro, New York. A Christian service at 5:00, officiated by Nancy's cousin Patricia will complete the memorial. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Meghan Trifari Music Scholarship fund at Pine Bush Central School, P.O. Box 700, Pine Bush, NY 12566.
