Theodore Simenitzky of Avon Park Florida died Saturday August 29, 2015. He was the son of Roman Simenitzky and Mary Chomcheck Simenitzky, and was born in Mongaup Valley on May 22, 1924. Teddy enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942, and served some of his time in England and France. In 1946, he and his brother Pete built an egg farm, and in 1950, also started a gravel business, Simenitzky Bros Sand & Gravel. Teddy used his talents as an ice skater to be a skating instructor at the Concord Hotel, and years later worked for the Town of Thompson Highway department. Whatever the job, he worked hard and gave it 100%. Teddy married Dorothy (Dottie) Bomhoff in 1947, and together they enjoyed the lakes of the area, living on Swinging Bridge Lake, and White Lake. He enjoyed entertaining at his infamous Nummy's beach, where he made sure everyone had a good time. Teddy was a member of Mahogany Ridge Hunting Club, and lent a hand whenever it was needed. In 1990, Teddy and Dottie moved to Florida, where he took up golf, and enjoyed the game into his retirement. Throughout his life, he was known for his dedication and love for his family, his tremendous work ethic, his great laugh, and amazing sense of humor. Teddy is survived by his devoted wife of almost 68 years, Dorothy Simenitzky at home; his nieces Carol MacAdam, and Krista Travisano; his nephews Philip Bomhoff Jr, Walter Bomhoff Jr, John Bomhoff, and Michael Bomhoff. He was predeceased by his brothers, John Simenitzky and Peter Simenitzky, and his beloved daughter, Linda Bautista. Arrangements were under the direction of Fountain Funeral Home of Avon Park. Interment will be at Simenitzky Cemetery in Mongaup Valley NY at the convenience of the family. Local arrangements under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello.
