Obituary of Isidora Felipa

Isidora Felipa passed into God's hands at her home in Monticello, NY on August 3, 2015, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 101 years old. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She came and made her home in Monticello, NY in 1971, where she continued to live until her passing. She lived her life as a devout Catholic and worked at the Concord Hotel until she was 81 years of age when she then retired. She enjoyed being surrounded by her family and being able to help them in any way possible. She became a naturalized citizen on October 13th, 1994. The daughter of the late Francisco Felipa and Teodomira Barredo, she was born on February 5, 1914 in Ica, Peru. She had 2 sisters and 9 brothers. She is survived by 8 of her 9 children. She has 35 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren. Her spirit will remain with us all and we will forever miss her. We were truly blessed to have her in our lives and will always remember her strength, perseverance, ability to overcome adversity, commitment to family, and the many valuable lessons she helped instill within us over so many years. Special thanks to those that helped care for her during her final days - Alberto, Thomas, Paulina, Ana, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 5th at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello, NY from 5pm-8pm. Her Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter's Church in Monticello, NY on Thursday, August 6th at 10am with her burial to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in Monticello, NY.
