Norman L. Culligan of Monticello passed away on Friday, July 24, 2015 at the Achieve Rehab & Nursing Facility in Liberty. He was 85. The son of the late Norman M. Culligan and Laura Lynn Culligan, he was born November 26, 1929 in Middletown. Norm retired as Vice President from Key Bank of N.Y and Fleet Bank, and was also a Veteran of the Korean War, a member of the Monticello Fire Department for 42 years, and an avid N.Y. Mets Fan, and sports enthusiast. He was always at his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. He played softball and golf well into his 60's, also enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a long time member of the Wickham Mills Hunting Club. Norman is survived by his wife of almost 65 years Evelyn S. Culligan, a son William and his wife Janie, a brother James and his wife Ann, a sister-in-law Joanne, and a son-in-law Randy Nygard. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Tabetha Nygard and her husband Steve, Mandi Lynne and her companion Amanda, Meghan Lynn and her husband Conrad, William Devin and his wife Sheyla, James Wagner, Jordan Wagner and his wife Christine, Jerianne Wagner, Holli Schoonmaker, Samantha Knapp and her husband James, Paige Schoonmaker and significant other Fred, and Johnathan Churly, as well as 11 great grandchildren, Henry Yager, Shawn and Noah Unser, Devin and Liam Culligan, Michael and Christopher Powell, Ryleigh Schoonmaker, Kearsten and McKenzie Knapp, Fred Moore, with #12 arriving in late August early September. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by 3 children Pattilyn Nygard, Colleen Schoonmaker, and Robert Culligan, a brother John, and 1 great grandson Robbie Schoonmaker & his father Robert G. Schoonmaker. Graveside services with military honors will be held on Sunday, August 2 at 12:00 noon at the Evergreen Cemetery, Route 17B in Bethel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital www.stjude.org or to the Monticello Fire Dept., 23 Richardson Ave., Monticello, NY 12701.
