Obituary of Richard E. Kelly

Richard E. "Dick" Kelly, a longtime employee of The Center for Discovery in Harris, died Thursday, July 9, 2015 at his home in Monticello. He was 62. The son of the late Thomas J. Kelly Sr. and Catharine Kearney Kelly, he was born January 23, 1953 in Monticello. Dick was a member of the Sullivan County Chorus and the Monticello Elk's Lodge #1544, as well as a communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Monticello where he sang with the choir. He is survived by his three brothers: James T. Kelly & his wife Pat of Morristown, NJ, William M. Kelly & his wife Mary Anne of Harrison, NY, and his twin brother Thomas J. Kelly Jr. and Dolly Mack of Monticello; a cousin: Terrie Baldwin of Monticello; four nieces and nephews and his friends and co-workers at the Center For Discovery. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Robert Kelly. He was also known as the walking mayor of Monticello as he walked the streets and knew all that was going on or found out in the next few days. Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, July 12 from 3-6pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 13 at 10am at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Broadway and Liberty Street in Monticello. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in Monticello.
