Walter Albert VanGorden, a retired tow motor operator of twenty nine years for the Bullard Co. in Fairfield, CT, died Thursday, June 25, 2015 at his home in Monticello. He was 82. The son of the late Wilbur VanGorden and Louise Fulhaber VanGorden, he was born November 29, 1932 in Brooklyn. He was the widower of his loving wife of fifty nine years Margaret A. Tenney VanGorden who predeceased him on March 13, 2011. Walter was a veteran of the United States Army, honorably discharged in 1951. He is survived by a daughter: Margaret L. VanGorden of Monticello; two sons: Walter VanGorden, and wife Elizabeth of Naugatuck, CT and Robert VanGorden, and wife Grizelda of Monticello; a brother: Dwight; five sisters: Joan, Marilyn, Louise, Susan and Debbie; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by two brothers: Ronald of Rock Hill, and Roy of Lake Tahoe, NV; and one sister Donna, of Daytona, FL. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to the Veterans Hospital of America.
