Obituary of Gurney W. Curtis

Gurney William Curtis, a retired forklift operator for Bogner, Liberty and Miller Lumber Companies, died Thursday, April 23, 2015 at his home in Monticello. He was 63. The son of the late Gurney W. Curtis Sr. and Mary Ellen Decker Clark, he was born January 18, 1952 in Huguenot, NY. Gurney was a very loving and caring individual. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He especially loved spending time outside gardening and fishing, and had fond memories of many happy times going fishing and hunting with family and friends. Gurney also enjoyed his hobbies of reading, military modeling and woodscrolling. A lot of companionship was also found in his devotion to his cats. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years: Angela DiMarzio Curtis, at home; two brothers: Stanley D. Clark Sr. of Tallahassee, FL and Harry Chudley of Gulf Port, FL; a sister: Almedia "Mary" Morgan & her husband John of Huguenot, NY; his mother-in-law: Viola K. DiMarzio of Monticello; father-in-law: John DiMarzio of Liberty; as well as many loving sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, hHHe was predeceased by to brothers: John and Larry Clark. Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, April 26 and on Monday, April 27 from 11am-1pm each day at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. His funeral service will be held at 1pm on Monday, April 27 at the funeral home with Rev. Bridgette LeConey officiating. Burial will follow at Rural Valley Cemetery in Cuddebackville.
