Obituary of Johanna Carbonaro

Johanna Carbonaro of Wurtsboro, a retired bookkeeper and longtime resident of the area, died Friday, April 10, 2015 at the Skilled Nursing Unit at CRM in Harris. She was 92. The daughter of the late John Guadagno and Otilia Goble Guadagno, she was born February 23, 1923 in Manhattan. She was the widow of John Carbonaro who predeceased her in 1984. Johanna was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wurtsboro where she was once active in the Ave Marie Guild. She was also a member of the Mamakating Seniors. She is survived by three daughters: Rita Carbonaro of Whiting, NJ, Gail Carbonaro of Plymouth, VT and Joan Carbonaro & her husband Tom of Wurtsboro; four grandchildren: Dawnmarie Jacoby, Darlene Smurra, Danielle Smurra and Benny Ortiz; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a son: Vito; a brother: Thomas; and a sister: Agatha. Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, April 12 from 4-7pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 13 at 11am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 180 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Wurtsboro.
