Marie Filomena Pittaluga of Monticello died Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. She was 92. The daughter of the late Thomas DePace and Carolina DeFilippo DePace, she was born May 20, 1922 in New York, NY. She was the widow of Norman "Hoot" Pittaluga who passed away on September 18, 1992. Mary was a United States Army veteran serving in the Women's Air Corps during World War II. She was also a retired cashier at the A & P Supermarket in Monticello and later worked as a teacher's assistant with the Monticello Central Schools. She is survived by three daughters: Carol Gomillion of Jeffersonville, Vivian Pittaluga of Monticello and Eda LaPolt of Kauneonga Lake; three grandchildren: Cristina (Dave) Thomas, David Lisker and Tara (Kurt) Raymond; four great grandchildren: Aidan, Connor, Megan and Kollin; two brothers: Joseph DePace of Milford, PA and Thomas DePace of Monticello; a sister: Eleanor Calman of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers: Michael and Jerry DePace; and a sister: Clara DeSimone. Family & friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, March 18 from 5-8pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 19 at 11am at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Forestburgh with Fr. Ivan Csete officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in Monticello. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a Veterans charity of one's choice.
