Louise C. Hussner, 94, of Wurtsboro, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Middletown Park Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Middletown. She was born in Ridgewood, Queens, NY on January 19, 1921 to Louise and Fred Bendler. After being married in December of 1941, she moved with her family from Ridgewood and settled in Wurtsboro in 1949. She became active in the Dutch Reformed Church (which now is the Community Church) for many years of which she sang in the Choir. She was an active bowler with the Noon Day Ladies Bowling League of Ellenville and retired from the Orange & Rockland Utility Company after 31 years of service. She is survived by her brother Fred Bendler Jr. & his wife Aileen of Middlesex, NJ; a stepsister: Jane Purkiss & her husband Donald of Pittstown, NJ; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and eight nieces. She is predeceased by her two sons: Alan G. Hussner and Douglas G. Hussner; a great granddaughter: Kayla; and her companion of 16 years, her dog Muffin. Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, February 21 from 12:00 noon to 1:30pm on Wednesday, February 25th (Rescheduled from Saturday, due to weather conditions) at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. Her funeral service will follow at 2pm at the Community Church of Wurtsboro, 134 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with Rev. Robert Meyer officiating. Cremation will follow and interment of her ashes will be held in the Spring at the Sylvan Cemetery in Wurtsboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Community Church of Wurtsboro, P.O. Box 487, Wurtsboro, NY 12790. Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc.
