Janet Louise Schimmel of Livingston Manor, a retired payroll manager for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in New York City, died Saturday, February 21, 2015. She was 85. The daughter of the late Daniel Pearsall and Helen Gavey Pearsall, she was born October 11, 1929 in Jamaica, Queens. She was the widow of Henry Schimmel who predeceased her on November 12, 2012. After moving to Sullivan County, she was employed at the Department of Public Works as office manager for many years. She is survived by a daughter: Donna Bastone & her husband Anthony of Rock Hill; a son: Henry Schimmel & his wife Ginny of Wantagh; and three grandchildren: Danielle, Marion and Gregory. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother: Bob Pearsall; and a grandson: Gary. Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, February 23 from 6-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Burial will be held privately at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty. Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello.
