Obituary of Margaret Woods Abdoo

Margaret Woods Abdoo was born on June 5, 1930 in Forestburgh, NY. She passed peacefully after a long courageous battle on Thursday, February 19, 2015. She is survived by her loving sister Mary Woods King; and nieces and nephews including Beth Marzo, Kathleen Murphy, Eugene King, William King, David Woods Thomas Woods, and their families. She outlived her husband, Charles, as well as her brother David. Her father David Woods served as the Forestburgh highway superintendent. Peggy’s mother, Elizabeth Toomey Woods taught her and her siblings in the Forestburgh grammar school. Peggy then attended high school at St. Joseph’s Mountain School, and later graduated the Hunter Secretarial School. She worked for Sullivan County and was the Forestburgh tax collector for approximately 40 years. She loved her dogs, which were always at her side. She had a quiet, graceful and humble soul and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Family & friends are invited to gather on Sunday, February 22 from 4-7pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 23 at 11am at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Forestburgh with Fr. Ivan Csete officiating.
