To The Family Of Robert L. Harding
Our Deep Condolence and Sympathy. I met Robert as a student in 1960 when he became a Chemistry Teacher at Monticello High School I later had the privilege to work at Monticello High School under Robert's Administration when he was principal. I learned a lot about high school and procedures under Robert. The most important thing I learned from Robert was that the students at Monticello High School was his number 1 priority. Robert knew 95 per cent of the student body by name, which at times reached almost a thousand students.
I would like to say, Robert will be sorely missed. A great principal, person and friend.

I first met Bob as my chemistry teacher in high school. Over the years we became good friends. He was a real gentleman with a sweet heart. I can't remember a time when he didn't have a big smile and grand hello when ever we saw each other. He always gave 150% as a teacher, principal and a good friend. He will surely be missed.

I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Harding's passing. When He fisrt came to Monticello he had the luck of having my sister in his science class. He rented an apartment around the corner from our house and my Mother and father would never let a new comer to the community just flounder trying to fit into the community. So Mr. Harding was invited to church and to Sunday dinners very often until more and more people of the community got to know him and just everyone that I knew thought the world of him. He never made you feel stupid if you didn't know the answer right off, Mr. H would try and guide the student to the answer. You never felt stupied . He was a good man and it is sad to have Him leave this world. He helped made learning possible and fun. Thank you for sharing him with us. I learned a great deal from Mr. H. He was loved from the first day he entered MHS. All the kids loved him as he made Chemistry fun. In HS I got a C in Chemistry but an A in college as the knowledge he imparted set me above the others in the class. The girls all had crushes on him and the parents always wanted him to dinner. My parents loved him as well and had him to dinner numerous times.
He leaves behind a legacy of greatful students that were imparted with his knowledge and wisdom.
May this give you comfort in your time of grieving.

My thoughts are with you, he was an amazing guy. He once took me home from school because I was sick and my mom didn't have a car to pick me up. He taught me all the way home about driving a car.
He was so thoughtful and remembered all of his students names. Just recently at a former classmates service he picked up our year book and started naming the people on the cover! I didn't even remember their names, but Bob did!
He will not be forgotten!

I had Mr. Harding for 7th grade science class when he first came to Monticello in 1960. He was the greatest teacher, always fun, interesting, inspirational. I never forgot him. I was so surprised in later years, that he turned out to be my neighbor in Burlingham, NY. He was always outside in his retirement years, raking, shoveling snow, mowing the lawn. Every time I went by, he had a big smile, a wave, a conversation. It is funny, all these years later, I could never call him Bob, he was still Mr. Harding to me. Sincere condolences to the family. I know he will be very missed.

We lost one of the best education advocates that Monticello ever had. Bob Harding was a wonderful role model as a teacher, principal and friend. He influenced not only one generation of Leshner students at Monticello High School, he also impacted a second. Bob became a Leshner family friend in 1960 when he first sold the World Book Encyclopedia to my folks, and remained one for his lifetime. The twinkle in his eye, his sense of humor, his honesty and many more attributes will be greatly missed by all. My sincere condolences to Justin, Nikki and the entire family. RIP Bob.

I knew Bob as a colleague and friend during the years I taught at Monti High (1965-70). Lonnie, my wife, taught English, I taught math and Bob taught chemistry. He sang in the "Music Man," the first musical at the high school. Lonnie directed and I played Harold Hill. We all got to see the very talented Bob Harding as a great teacher and as an enthusiastic member of the larger school community.
He leaves a great legacy. He was one of a kind. My thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and loving family.

Bob Harding touched lives. He became a family friend shortly after he moved to Monticello in 1960 and spent many a day crowded around the dining table chewing the fat. I extend my sincere and heartfelt condolences to Mr. Harding's family on your inestimable loss. As a student at Monticello High School between 1971 and 1975, I knew him as an administrator. He later became a friend and accepted my request to recommend me for admission to the New York State bar; he wrote a beautiful letter on my behalf. I saw him at the beginning of this winter and thanked him again for favoring me with that letter; with 31 years of experience as an attorney I have never forgotten what he did for me.
