Obituary of Elizabeth Joy Surerus

Elizabeth J. Surerus of Monticello, NY, a lifelong resident of the Monticello area and graduate of Monticello High School, passed away suddenly at home on January 14, 2015. She was 29. After briefly working at Brey's Egg Farm, her love of animals and desire to help people led her to volunteer at Sullivan SPCA and Monticello Volunteer Ambulance before it was dissolved. She was loved by many friends as well as her family. She is survived by her parents, Christie(Gall) & Kenneth Surerus, III of Rock Hill; her brother Raymond E. Surerus of Smallwood; her maternal great grandmother, Hazel Chatterton of Rockwood; paternal grandparents, Carol(Price) & Kenneth Surerus, Jr. of Rock Hill; her best friend in the world, Lester Quick, Jr. of Jeffersonville; one maternal great uncle, various aunts and uncles, two nieces, and numerous cousins. Visitation will be on Friday, January 23 from 12 noon to 1pm at the Rock Hill Church of the Nazarene, 210 Katrina Falls Road in Rock Hill, with funeral service to begin at 1:00 with Rev. Roy Shaffer officiating. Interment will follow at Messenger Cemetery on Southwoods Drive in Monticello.
