Obituary of Richard F. Douglass

Richard F. Douglass known as "Doug Richards the musician" was born on March 11, 1941 at Brooklyn Hospital to Mildred and Ralph Douglass. He died December 23, 2014 at the age of 73.
He was the middle child of their only son. He was baptized at St. Peter's Claver in Brooklyn as young child. He attended the NYC Public School System at Boys High thereafter he enlisted into the Army of the United States. He'd worked many jobs but he only had one love and that was music.
Doug later on and met Barbara Williams whom he married and had Michael Douglass. After separation, he was in a sixteen year relationship with Beverly Fisher which became Felice Fisher and step-daughter Cheryl Fisher-Facio (preceded in death).
Doug was a great musician that played all over the world. He later moved from Brooklyn, NY in the 1980's to Monticello. NY. There he joined St. Peter's Church and became a member of the Knights
of Columbus. He continued with his dream of music until a few years ago it became full circle for him. With his hard work and dedication, his music is now produced and being heard all over the world and overseas, including YouTube Donna Singer and the Doug Richards Trio.
Doug fought a ten year battle with cancer but it never deterred him from playing to the very end. His love and his life Music, his family and friends.
He leaves to mourn, one son Michael, one daughter Felice, seven grandchildren Kareem, Ramel, Naquan, Love-Asia, I-Teahsa, Jalessa and Ayannah, 14 great-grandchildren, three sisters Joan Hudson, Christine Thompson and Irene Williams, one niece, four nephews, a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, January 6 from 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Burial with military honors will be held on Wednesday, January 7 at the Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, Long Island, NY.
