Obituary of Muriel Queenie Coleman

Muriel Queenie Coleman, a retired registered nurse, died Saturday, October 11, 2014 at her home in Bloomingburg. She was 94.
The daughter of the late Albert James Cleak and Annie Hood Ritchie Cleak, she was born June 24, 1920 in Glasgow, Scotland. She was the widow of George William Coleman who predeceased her on February 13, 2011.
Muriel was a nurse at St. John's Hospital in London, England during World War II all throughout the bombing. She traveled to Canada, then to Ohio, and then to New York City where she continued her nursing career. She then entered a career at the same time in the New York City public education system in the Bronx. She was an outstanding advocate for the betterment of the students' educations, all the while being a full time mother, grandmother and loving wife.
She is survived by her six children: Irene Greco of Tamarac, FL, Annette Thomson & her husband Clyde of Baltimore, MD, Jack Coleman of Bloomingburg, William Coleman of Bloomingburg, Albert Coleman & his wife Sandra of Montgomery, and Jill Vita & her husband John of Dunellen, NJ; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister: Irene Kirgesner of Cuyahoga Falls, OH.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, October 14 from 4-7 at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. Her funeral service will begin at 7:00 at the funeral home.
