Eugenia Montes, a former chambermaid at the Concord Hotel, died Thursday, September 18, 2014 at her home in Monticello, surrounded by her loving family. She was 79. The daughter of the late Humberto Ramos and Isidora Felipa, she was born September 23, 1934 in Lima, Peru. She is survived by her husband of 45 years: Jose Montes, at home; her mother: Isidora Felipa; a son: Emilio Raffo & his wife Lilian Cruz; two daughters: Margaret Marmanillo, and Janet Davis-Montes & her husband Shabanni Davis, all of Monticello; seven granddaughters: Shannon and Christina Raffo, Angelica, Martha Eugenia, Maricruz and Xenia Retana, and Deija Davis-Montes; five great grandchildren: Devon, Kailey, Dylan, Hailey and Krishna; her siblings: Esteban and Juan Ramos, Ana Lescano, Maria V. Agapito, Noemi Ramos, and Paulina, Thomas and Alberto Caycho, all of Peru; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, September 22 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 23 at 10am at St. Peter's Church, Broadway and Liberty Street in Monticello. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in Monticello.
