Obituary of Elizabeth M. Fraser

Elizabeth M. "Betty" Fraser, a retired telephone operator for NY Telephone, and lifelong resident of the area, died Saturday, September 13, 2014 at her home in Monticello surrounded by her family. She was 98. The daughter of the late Fred Turner and Bertha Stickle Turner, she was born July 18, 1916 in Fallsburg. She was the widow of Wellesley "Wally" Fraser who predeceased her in 1988. She is survived by two sons: Douglas Fraser (Pat), and Donald Fraser (Nancy); and a daughter-in-law: Helen Fraser, all of Monticello; 9 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends and neighbors who helped and cared for Betty. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son: Richard Fraser; daughter: Joan Hoyt; grandchild: Robert Hoyt, and her siblings: Gorton, Harry and Lena. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 16 from 4-7pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 17 at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Melvin D. Boone officiating. Burial will follow at the Hurleyville Cemetery.
