Obituary of Peter Montrose Jones

Peter Montrose Jones of Monticello, NY, a former welder, laborer, maintenance worker, and long time area resident died Sunday August 10, 2014 at home. He was 63 years old. The son of the late Jonas "Elijah" Jones and Melanie Andrews Jones, he was born on August 1, 1951 in Carriacou, Grenada, West Indies. He will be lovingly remembered for his sense of humor; as he loved to make others laugh, his passion for life, his generous heart, his joy of reggae music and of his homeland – Carriacou, Grenada. He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Shirley Irene Tyler at home, his sons Joshua Peter Jones of Liberty, NY, Patrick Brian Jones of Mt. Pocono, PA, and Joseph Noel of Huddersfield, England; a stepson: Robert L. Brown of Waltham, MA; his granddaughters Tahkira Jones, Jazlynn Jones, and Gabriella Jones; his sisters Delcy Dunn of London, England and Theodora John of Brooklyn, NY; his nephews Peter John of Brooklyn, NY, Henry "Paul" John of Carriacou, Grenada, his nieces Carmella John of Brooklyn, NY, Deborah McNeilly of London, England, numerous cousins, many special great-nieces and nephews, loving in-laws, countless friends, and all of his "Evergreen" family. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 16 from 1 - 4 pm at the Van Inwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway, Monticello, NY. Interment will be held in Carriacou, Grenada.
