Obituary of Irene F. Harris

Irene Harris September 22, 1920 - August 1, 2014 Monticello, NY Irene McCaffery Harris, a life time resident of Monticello, quietly passed away with her family at her side at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center, in Liberty after a short illness. She was 93. The daughter of the Late James and Helen Edwards McCaffery. She was for married over 50 years to John R. (Jack) Harris, who predeceased her in 1999. Irene was involved in the insurance industry in her early years. After raising her three children, she served as a special assistant and bookkeeper for Harris, Monti and McLaughlin Insurance for many years. He is survived her daughter: Agnes Kukas of Monticello, two sons: James and his wife Blanche of Davidson, NC and Kirkland Harris and his wife Marie of Monticello. Also her grandchildren: Michael, Matthew, and Ben Kukas, Susan Carnell and her husband Mark all of Monticello, NY., Adam, Alexander and Andrew Harris of Davidson NC., Bradford and Kyle Harris of Monticello, NY., Jennie Harris of Rock Hill; and Ashley Harris of Binghamton, NY. Two Great Grandchildren Madison and Blayre Carnell. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Jack Harris and her Sisters Ruth Stackhouse and Marion (Skip) Knapp and a brother James McCaffery, Jr. (Sonny). Graveside services are set for 10:00 am Thursday, at the Harris Brookside Cemetery, Sachs Road, Harris, NY, with Rev. John Tran officiating.
