John Guy Gilmour of Monticello, a harness driver and trainer extraordinaire at the Monticello Raceway, died Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 76. The son of the late William Gilmour and Margaret Harrison Gilmour, he was born May 1, 1938 in Lucan, Ontario, Canada. He is survived by a son: John Michael Gilmour of Monticello; two daughters: Janet Messenger & her husband Ne of Monticello, and Heather Cox & her husband Nick of Cape Cod, MA; five grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; his companion: Vita Yakin of Monticello; a brother: Lloyd Gilmour of Bowie, MD; three sisters: Phyllis Sider, Barbara Knapp and Joann Renshaw, all of Ridgeway, Ontario; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Joseph; a grandson: Aaron; two brothers: George and Bud Gilmour; and two sisters: Norma Robinson and Helen Reinhardt.
