Obituary of Harold E. Damms Sr.

Harold Earl Damms, Sr. of Summitville, a former construction worker at the Nevele Hotel in Ellenville, closed his green eyes one last time on Saturday, June 28, 2014, to go be with the love of his life, his wife of 64 years, Lenora. He was 82. The son of the late Frank Damms and Theresa Stangel Damms, he was born July 31, 1931 in Fallsburg. On May 20, 1950, he married his true love Lenora Lybolt and they went on to build their home in Summitville and raise 12 children. He is survived by his loving children: Kimberly Wingert & her husband Dale of Bethel, Wendy Damms and her husband Greg of Grahamsville, Scott Damms and his wife Bobbi of Wurtsboro, Laura McDonnell & her husband Pete of Saugerties, Cindy Quick of Summitville, Gail Dorsett & her husband Les of Georgia, and Roger Damms & his wife Jeanette of Ocala, FL; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by two daughters: Alice Damms and Linda McIntosh; two sons: Edward Damms and Harold E. Damms Jr. "Dink"; and a grandson: Billy Walsh. Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, July 1 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 2 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Sylvan Cemetery in Wurtsboro.
