Rose Comfort Hand, a cashier with Shop Rite in Middletown, died Thursday, May 29, 2014 at her home in Middletown surrounded by her family. She was 56.
The daughter of the late Robert T. Comfort Sr. and Wilma Mullican Comfort, she was born October 12, 1957 in Monticello.
Rose was a loving mother and grandmother who liked to horseback ride, snowmobile, and go camping. She always took care of her family before anything else.
She is survived by two daughters: Debra Blochwitz and Roseann M. Hand, both of Middletown, and their father: Gary P. Hand; two grandsons: Justin and Jacob Blochwitz; three brothers: Charles Comfort Jr. & his wife Gloria of Middletown, Henry Smith & his wife Virginia of Bennettsville, SC and Floyd Comfort of Highland, NY; a sister: Susan Malcom of Oviedo, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, June 4 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 5 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery.
