Obituary of Joseph B. Roe Jr.

Joseph B. Roe Jr. of Bloomingburg, a retired self-employed excavator, died Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. He was 84. The son of the late Joseph B. Roe Sr. and Marion Ennis Roe, he was born October 27, 1929 in Roosa Gap. Joe was an extremely devoted husband, father and family man. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including camping, hunting and fishing and passed this passion on to his family. He enjoyed gardening, reading, and all aspects of local history. He is survived by his wife of 63 years: Barbara Allen Roe, at home; a son: Joseph B. Roe III and his wife JoAnn of Bloomingburg; three daughters: Ginger Yanosh of Circleville, Nancy Gould & her husband Richard of Bloomingburg and Kathryn Feeney & her husband Sean of Atlanta, GA; eight grandchildren: Daniel, Cynthia and Timothy Yanosh, Claire and Allison Feeney, Joseph and Kristy Bruning and Joseph B. Roe IV; two great grandchildren: Alyssa and Joey; three brothers: Richard Roe of Bloomingburg, Robert Roe of Westbrookville and Ralph Roe of Marathon; a sister: Rhea Arnold of Fair Oaks; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings: Marion Botsford, Shirley Boniface, June Poharski, John Roe, Duane Roe Sr., William Roe and Elva Wilma Plocharczyk. Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, May 12 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. His funeral service will begin at 8:30pm with Pastor Robert Hewitt officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Bloomingburg Fire Co., P.O.
